KCAHTA’s mission is to educate and preserve the significance of historic frontier trails which traversed through our greater Kansas City area during our nation’s 1800s westward expansion era. Each trail has its own importance: the Lewis & Clark Corps of Discovery explored the Louisiana Purchase and Pacific Northwest to the Pacific Ocean; the Santa Fe Trail was a commerce route between Mexico and the United States; the Oregon Trail was an emigrant route to discover and settle new territory; the California Trail guided adventurers west seeking opportunities of riches and land!
